[There was no danger. There were no enemies lying in wait. There was just Yuri Petrov (or is it Lunatic, now?), broken and injured, and in dire need of assistance. Thankfully, Sabriel's magic was able to save him from his poor life decisions, but before they could get any answers from him he had vanished into then night. Typical. Edgeworth's scowl deepens and he takes a deep breath, before he turns to Sabriel]

...thank you for your help, Sabriel. I'm sorry I had to drag you into this.

[The gratitude is genuine, though. While he has no love in his heart for Petrov, he doesn't relish the idea of mending his injuries with nothing but a few first aid classes behind him.]

Hmph! That's an understa-

[Before he can finish his biting commentary on Yuri Petrov, he sees Sabriel slump against the wall, and rushes to her side.]

Do you need a hand?

[He furrows his brow in concern, uncertain of what to do. Is this a result of the magic? How much did it take out of her?]
takethestairs: (look away)

[Again, another understatement. Edgeworth glances furtively to the side, where Yuri had been found, before looking towards his car]

Just tell me when you're ready to leave. I don't want to keep you out here longer than necessary.
takethestairs: (erm. yes. quite.)

[Edgeworth nods and makes his way to the hovercar, stopping to open the door for her, waiting to see if she needs a hand. If she can manage on his own, he'll make his way to his side. When he starts the ignition, it's silent save for the sound of the engine, with no noise from Edgeworth or the radio. Should he say something? Or should he continue with nothingness?

Eventually, though, his curiosity gets the better of him, and he clears his throat as the car floats off the ground]

So, erm, your-

takethestairs: (Not talking to you)

[He purses his lips together, perfectly aware of how little he knows about the Charter. It sounds easy, but considering what he just witnessed, he knows that it's anything but.]

And these spells... do they require anything in exchange? Or do you simply need to know what you need?
takethestairs: (erm. yes. quite.)

[Edgeworth remains silent for a moment, thinking things over, making connections about what Sabriel has said to what little he knows about the supernatural]

A friend of mine has powers with... similar requirements. Lack of focus doesn't have such disastrous results for her, but it's still necessary so she doesn't get overwhelmed by her senses. Without meditation and practice, it...

[There's another pause as Edgeworth remembers the time he got a taste of spiritual energy. He clears his throat and shoves those memories aside]

It would be difficult to get anything done, I imagine.
