1) Is your character is an undead/spirit/ghost of some sort? If the answer is 'yes' can Sabriel sense them? Please note that this ability only works in person.

2) Can Sabriel use her bells on your characters? She probably won't use them unless the character in question is undead- they are not a tool of first resort for anything else. Ranna, Saraneth, and Kibeth are the three bells Sabriel is most likely to use.

Ranna: The first, and smallest bell, the sleeper. It sends those who hear it into slumber.
Mosrael: The second bell, the waker. It acts as a seesaw, throwing the ringer into death as it brings the listener into life. One of the doors on the way to Abhorsen's House is described as opening to its sound, and in later books it's mentioned that it's used to awaken bound Free Magic spirits. Sabriel's unlikely to use it.
Kibeth: The third bell, the walker. This bell has many sounds, and can both grant freedom of movement to the dead, or remove it. It's described as troublesome, and tries to ring of its own accord, forcing the ringer to walk where she does not wish to.
Dyrim: The fourth bell, the Speaker. It can grant the power of speech, or remove it. In later books, it's mentioned but not shown that it can 'give forgotten words their meaning', so it may have other communication related abilities.
Belgaer: The fifth bell, the thinker. It can restore independent though, memories and "all the patterns of life" to the Dead, but it can erase these as well. In later books, it's used to release someone from a binding. Other necromancers have apparently used it against their foes- driving them to madness, or simply rendering them amnesiacs. Like Kibeth, will try to sound on its own.
Saraneth: The sixth, and deepest of all bells- the binder. It binds the target to the ringer's will.
Astarael: The seventh, and final bell. Called Weeper, the Banisher, when rung, Astarael casts all who hear it deep into Death, including the ringer- and so it's only used as a last resort, when the ringer has no other options. This bell will never be used without prior consultation with the mods.

Hiii, we spoke on D_M. Dropping by to say that James, here, is being taken from post-death and he's aware of it. Sabriel is welcome sense him and to use her bells on him, though I doubt there would ever be need. But if she'd like to experiment in tu shan, maybe we could work something out where he volunteers?

I'm all right with Sabriel sensing that Bucky's not exactly alive (well, he didn't really hit the ground, yet, but was flying really fast. And he was only dead briefly, before he was found and revived, but he was dead.)

And, mmm. I'd say if she thinks she should, she could go with any of the first five bells. Sixth and seventh, please ask first, if the occasion prompts it?

1. Asbel is totes alive and healthy.

But.

He has a couple of headpassengers that might read as free magic spirits, and I thiiiink a charter mage can pick up on those? It's been a while since I read the trilogy, sadly. They are both currently dormant but for later reference;

Lambda is the more active, and keeps Fodra herself dormant. He isn't undead, although it's unclear where he originated from. The best theory is that he is from a sample of the sentient core of Ephinea. Lambda is capable of 'infecting' creatures with some of his power, giving him control over them, and can merge with a being to share the full extent of that power. While he's capable of taking forced control of someone, he exists peaceably with Asbel because friendship is magical. He is capable of communicating with people in proximity to Asbel without taking control of him, but would usually relay his thoughts through Asbel.

Fodra, or the little Queen, is most of the absorbed energy and hatred from the core of a planet. She is kept in check by Lambda, who absorbed most of her power. I don't currently have any plans for Fodra to become active, but Sabriel might be able to sense her as well as Lambda.

2. As for the bells, I'm pretty okay with them, although I would ask we talk if you think she needs to use Saraneth or Mosrael, as we'd have to work out exactly how that could effect headpassengers.

1. Sei's alive and physically healthy, but he'd probably read not unlike a free magic spirit or one of the Bright Shiners. Think of a tall crankier Mogget.

2. Go ahead, but we might have to work out how well they would work! And it'd definitely piss him off if she used Saraneth.

1) He is both alive and dead. So yeah, however that would parse, she can pick it up.
2) Yes. Bells are welcome.

1) He's not alive but he isn't dead either. Android. She can pick up on this however you think she would.
2) Bells would not work on him, since he's not organic.
